Salih S.Written by CP Editor Wednesday, 14 July 2010
Salih S. is 28 years old and was extradited on the 13th July 2010 by Turkey to Germany on assertions that he was involved in terrorism and with a group alleged to have plotted an attack against a US target.
German prosecutors the next day put forward their theory that Salih supported and was a member of a ‘terrorist’ organisation they named as the ‘Islamic Jihad Union’ also stating their suppositions that these individuals trained in military camps in Pakistan.
The substance of the allegations seem to have been spun from an innocent shopping trip in which Salih bought readily and publically available legal camping and hobbyist equipment such as the popular GPS devices, animal lovers nocturnal binoculars and other miscellaneous items presented as evidence of terrorism.
The prosecutors have counter-intuitively come to the conclusion that these were bought for an individual named Adem Yilmaz.
Adem was convicted, as well as three others, in an apparent miscarriage of justice that is having unjust repercussions on Salih and possibly many others.
