Background
Mohamed Ali Mohamed last visited Uganda in 2009, Mbale Town to see a close relative that was studying there.
Arrest
Ali Mohamed was arrested on the 11th January 2011 in Tanga, Tanzania.
Detention
On the 12th January 2011 Ali Mohamed was transferred to Dar Es Salaam and detained for a month without being presented to any court of law.
Torture
During this time Ali Mohamed was subjected to extraordinarily long interrogations by state security officers from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania as well as a Caucasian agent of the name ‘Erick’ from Washington, USA.
False Confessions
He was made to falsely confess that he was part of the Kampala bombings on the 11th July 2010 and was coerced to state this otherwise he would face torture, be killed and his friends and relatives including his pregnant wife, also detained, would not be released but face the same treatment.
Extradition
These false confessions made under extreme and severe duress were then used by Ndungutse Ngaruye John as the basis of the charges brought against Ali Mohamed in Uganda and also the request made by Uganda for his extradition. Nothing was mention in this prolonged interrogation about murder or attempted murder, which were later added by Ugandan police office Ndungutse Ngaruye John. His false confessions are being used against another detainee in Uganda facing terrorism charges.
Condition
Mohamed Ali Mohamed is illegally detained in Tanzania awaiting extradition to Uganda under false charges the basis of which are false confessions he made under severe duress and torture, which were later added to by a Ugandan police officer named Ndungutse Ngaruye John.
